History

Original Spec Drawings of The Black Watch The BLACK WATCH is a timeless beauty and testament to old world craftsmanship. In 1979, at the Cheoy Lee Shipyards in Kowloon, Hong Kong - a 38 foot classic blue water sailing sloop was taking shape.

The master shipbuilders painstakingly hand crafted a beautiful sailing vessel under the watchful eye of her designer, world renowned Marine Architect, Ray Richards.

For her first 29 years, The BLACK WATCH called the waters of Chesapeake Bay home. The Atlantic Seaboard and the turquoise waters around the Bahamas and Bermuda became her playground.

In April 2008, the BLACK WATCH set sail on an unusual 1,389 mile journey… one that would take her overland through the Appalachian mountains and across the plains to her new home in the heart of the D/FW metroplex.

The BLACK WATCH arrived at Scott’s Landing 3 days ahead of schedule and was quickly recommissioned for her new playground, Lake Grapevine.
